Red Peak is a place where Design and Strategy meet to transform brands.

twitter.com/RedPeakBranding:

An unexpected and accessible form of political protest, Conflict Kitchen highlights a different type of cuisine every 6 months, only from countries the US is in conflict with. Carnegie Mellon University grads created the project to stir up public conversation around political conflicts through food.

The food comes served in packaging covered with quotes from nationals on various political topics. But food is simply the gateway, as events, performances and discussions accompany the project.

GEM OF THE WEEK: MOBILE PIES

Jon Darsky is a one-man show at Del Popolo, his moving Neapolitan Pizza restaurant that is run from a flatbed truck. His pizzas not only look amazing but for $14 will get you a mozzarella, braised rapini, spicy salami, red onion, chili oil pie. For $10, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt. Lets hope he makes a trip from San Francisco to NYC soon.

    Packaging that tastes good too

A biomedical engineer from Harvard has developed biodegradable packaging that is edible as well.  The solution will cut down on plastic pollution and also serve as a tasty treat- evidenced above by the latest prototype, ice cream wrapped in a fudge flavored membrane.

Visited one of my favorite places in Brooklyn this weekend - The Brooklyn Flea Market. I stumbled upon Morris Kitchen who were selling their specialty Ginger Syrup. The syrup is contained in something resembling an old medicine bottle and the labels are all letter pressed. I sampled the ginger syrup in a tea concoction where it was mixed with hot water and maybe some lemon. There were also little recipe cards for cocktail making and you can probably experiment with it in your baking/cooking, or give it as a gift, or just keep it for yourself :)
