CROWDFUNDING MEETS THE LAB
A new start-up still in beta is giving hope to scientific institutions facing drastic budget cuts and a lack of capital by reaching out to the public for help. Using crowdfunding, Petridish has helped to finance research projects and expeditions around the globe. Users who donate become ‘a part of the team’ and receive insider updates, field souvenirs, and even mentions in academic journals.
